Leh is ancient capital of Ladakh. The centre of all activity in Leh is the main bazaar where you can get almost everything you need but remember all shops close early. Look for good dealson handicrafts and other Ladakhi souvenirs while strolling this main street. It is suggested to spend a couple of days in town if you're heading out on a trek or Jeep tour as the high mountain rarefied air needs some acclimatization. This will also give you time to explore the quaint villages on the outer edges of town.
Our staff will be glad to give you information on day walks. Leh is a small town and walking is an easy way to explore the villages around and get away from the bustle. Several restaurants and cafes serve a range of cuisine and snacks. If you're flying in to Leh, the airport is 2 ½ Kms from the town and the best way into Leh is to take a taxi as there is no Airport bus. Major activities for the tourist interest are sightseeing of ancient monasteries, high altitude lakes, Mountain passes, trekking, white water rafting, camel safaris, Jeep Safaris, Bike rides cultural extravaganza and many more. |
